Ever since the opening in 2004, Indigo Restaurant & Bar has been the cornerstone for those seeking good food and entertainment in Mariehamn.
Located at Nygatan/Strandgatan, the block surrounding Lilla Torget dates back to 1865. In the 1870s, shipowner and merchant Victor Starck commissioned the construction of a residential building, storehouse and bakery on the plot.
Today, Starck’s stone warehouse is the town’s oldest remaining stone building, which is now home to Indigo, the biggest draw on the block. Indigo has dubbed itself “your other living room”, and quite rightfully so. With its bar on the upper floor and outdoor dining in the summer, the restaurant is a natural gathering place for Ålanders and visitors alike. Here you’re sure to find something tempting, from a delicious lunch to a late night mingling, sometimes music by DJs, and a dance floor.
The ambiance ranges from casual elegance in the fine dining restaurant on ground floor to lively atmosphere on the upper floor. This makes Indigo an equally obvious choice for business lunches, family dinners and fine dining as for after-works, pub quizzes, and spontaneous drinks.
Indigo also offers a popular summer terrace and The Calypso Bar with nightlife, great cocktails, and music.
Rock'n'roll around the square
Equally relaxed but significantly more rock-oriented is the next door hangout Dino’s. Here, the kitchen serves good food while the bar and outdoor terrace invite you to billiards, music, and just to have a good time. Sometimes, there are also singer-songwriters and live music, especially in the summer.
