The craft house Salt is located by the quayside in The Maritime Quarter in Mariehamn. Step inside and enjoy the wide range of creative and inspiring crafts.
Salt is run by five skillful artisans. They use different techniques and materials and offer woven carpets and rugs, printed fabrics of own design, thrown ceramic mugs, dishes and bowls, and jewellery. Several of them have their studios in the house and they can open the doors for visitors to demonstrate how the products are created.
In their shop the artisans also take turns in standing behind the counter so that they can welcome the visitors and tell more about their work. The shop also sells products by other artisans, and everything here is the exact opposite of mass-produced products sold all over the world.
Oasis at Torggatan Street
Viktor Craft & Design is located by the pedestrian street in the town centre. There is a large selection of crafts, including knitwear, jewelry, junk art items and clothes. Here you can also find an abundance of beautiful unique gift items.
Upstairs there is a little gallery with contemporary arts & crafts exhibitions almost every month. The house also has a charming café serving lunches and homebaked treats made of Åland raw produce.
