Autumn weekend of countryside gems

There is a lot of Åland’s raw produce and artisan products to choose from at the Harvest Festival.

The Harvest Festival focuses on local raw produce and products, and there is a lot to choose from! There are many interesting farms and fun popup events to be visited during the Festival which is the biggest autumn event in Åland.

From farm to table

One week before the event you can get a taste of what awaits at the Festival by enjoying of specially composed Harvest Festival menus at the participating restaurants. The chef competition Axganmästarna invites local restaurants to compete on local “axgan” dishes made from Ålandic ingredients.

The main event is on September 20-22. Many farms in the countryside open their gates to visitors. The farms sell cultivated, home-baked and locally produced artisan food, such as charcuterie, cheese, jam and juice. Local arts and crafts are also on offer. Several farms also have a restaurant where you can enjoy local delicacies on site.

Take the bus to the farms

New this year is LokalTapiola’s “hop-on, hop-off” buses that take you to different Harvest Festival farms along a scheduled route on Saturday, 21 September.

The programme of the Harvest Festival varies from day to day. Plan your own favourite route with a mobile app to catch up with as many farms as possible or focus on just a few of interest.
